Wonderful Wind-powered Building for Miami’s Design District

December 2, 2010

This building looks like something from one of Jean’s platform-style games:  a “windy” stage.  😉

So exciting to see such interesting and innovative directions in architecture – beautiful!

Oppenheim Architecture + Design is about to give Miami’s Design District a whole new look. COR will be the first sustainable mixed-use condominium in the area. The building includes commercial and office space, a fitness center, and 113 residences, ranging from studios to penthouses.

Seeking LEED Platinum certification, the structure extracts power from its environment utilizing the latest advancements in wind turbines, photovoltaics, and solar hot water generation. The hyper-efficient exoskeleton shell provides building structure, thermal mass for insulation, shading for natural cooling, and enclosure for terraces.
